Resumen

Antecedentes: Esta revisión sistemática pretende sintetizar el impacto la musicoterapia en diferentes ámbitos del desarrollo del bebé prematuro cuando se utiliza en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales (UCIN) y es dirigida por musicoterapeutas. Método: Se realizaron búsquedas en Scopus, Scielo, Web of Sciencie (WOS) y ProQuest desde 2011 hasta 2021 siguiendo PRISMA y se incluyeron 21 estudios. Resultados: La musicoterapia no sólo puede mejorar eficazmente la frecuencia cardíaca del bebé prematuro, estabilizar la frecuencia respiratoria y atenuar el nivel de estrés, sino que también ejerce un impacto positivo en la alimentación, la calidad del sueño, la oxigenación cerebral y el bienestar del bebé. Además, ayuda a reducir la ansiedad materna y aumentar el bienestar parental. Conclusiones: Los hospitales pueden aplicar la musicoterapia, un tratamiento no farmacológico y no invasivo, a los recién nacidos prematuros en la UCIN. La comprensión de sus beneficios puede conducir a la mejora de los enfoques actualmente disponibles en los hospitales.

Abstract

Background: This systematic review aims to synthesize music therapy’s impact on different domains of preterm infant development when used in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and led by music therapists. Method: WOS, Scopus and ERIC were searched from 2011 to 2021 following PRISMA, and 21 studies were included. Results: The results demonstrate that music therapy can not only effectively improve the preterm infant’s heart rate, stabilize the respiratory rate, and attenuate the stress level but also has a positive impact on the infant’s feeding, the quality of sleep, brain oxygenation, and well-being. In addition, music therapy helps reduce maternal anxiety and increase parental well-being. Conclusions: Hospitals can apply music therapy, a nonpharmacological and noninvasive treatment, to preterm infants in the NICU. Understanding the benefits of music therapy in the NICU setting may lead to improved approaches currently available in hospitals.
